Krump is an expressive dance form originating from the streets of Los Angeles, it is recognised for its aggressive and often masculine nature. Nash is uncovering a theatrical way of using this movement language of Krump and translating the social culture to the stage through his work. The different themes he is touching upon, including coping mechanisms of one’s inner conflicts, masculinity, brotherhood and more, are integral for people to understand the dance's different aspects other than aggressiveness and physical power. Joshua is demonstrating how a dance style can have a different approach when using its movement vocabulary to that which they are used to in a contemporary context.
